I was joined by the wonderful Miles Bryant and we gave a talk together about our experience of running Kubernetes ourselves on EC2 at Monzo.
We talked about the trade-offs and all the work you need to do up-front to support a self-hosted Kubernetes cluster. A lot of that is toil work that doesn’t bring you much leverage nowadays. Managed offerings are now really good. Things like Google Kubernetes Engine and AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service provide a one-click management of an entire cluster.
